Originally intended for office use, the design seems rather wasted if used for it’s intended purpose.

Looking more martian land walker then table, it’ll do fantastic as contemporary bar furniture with the clear glass lending it a sort of eathiness which reduces the sci-fi effect of the table.

The flexibility of the Nomos is the real main factor behind Norman Foster’s design. In this highly flexible system, a wide range of table configurations are made possible due to the large inventory of available parts and pieces. For example, the top can be had in rectangular or round shapes and flat. The concept is further enhanced because it is simple enough to assemble and manufacture worldwide.

Bistro Area Chairs - The LA BAT

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

This attractive new number from Laytrad UK is the LA BAT, possibly coming to a bistro near you. Presumably the ‘bat’ portion of the name come from the oversized armrests that in chinese slang are just damn ‘obiang’. Super Over-the-top. Resonating Hong Kong Triad cool.

But this is no ordinary bistro area chair, a mixture of colors can be mixed in the blend to allow Laytrad to create really nice marbling effects like the few in the above pictures. The swirls and whirls give cause to dream of better days. Imagine the sunlight gliting off the surface of this contract chairs one sunny day as the clouds roll past.

It might just be a by note but the LA BAT is also stackable so it’s rough and ready to go whenever you are, wherever the place.

Eero Aarnio - Flying Carpet

The Flying carpet by Eero Aarnio doesn’t literally fly but it’s great fun all the same. It is essentially a piece of wavy molded polyethylene sitting atop a ‘rockable’ base allowing it to rock back and forth back and forth – you get the picture. Originally intended as a child’s toy, I find myself unnaturally attracted to it because it’s simply so fun to play with. Maybe it’s a weird ‘tick of mine but I’m sure that you’ll enjoy it too.

Stand atop it and rock your body rock. Great for children with too much energy to spend as well as those of us who are still young at heart. If your looking for a way to occupy children during sleepover parties, the Flying Carpet is the thing to get. When placed in the living room as a contract reception furniture , you’ve got a cheap way to leave young children entertained for a while.

William Sawaya’s lounge chair draws me to it like a moth to a candle. The strong bold lines of his creation have an inherent power in then showing that he is not afraid to experiment and assert his choice. The Maxima Lounge chair lends a certain presence that simply cannot be denied. In making the chair, William Sawaya made use of Chlorosulfonated polyurethane (strong yet light plastic in terms normal humans like me can understand) which ultimately resulted in reinforcement being unnecessary where it was thought that some was needed.
